Dune Villa

Hoek van Holland

EN: Studio Sluijzer has beautifully transformed a traditional bungalow into an exquisite dune villa.

When our client's children moved out, they desired a smaller yet remarkable home—a space that would be age-resistant and offer a sense of detachment. That's where our team stepped in, undertaking the task of turning their bungalow into a stunning "Duinvilla" complete with a stylish ground floor bathroom and bedroom. Every aspect of this project was crafted to create a charismatic refuge that perfectly aligns with their new chapter. The entire façade, garden and interior underwent a remarkable renovation, revealing an architecturally impressive design inspired by the awe-inspiring dunes.

But this project holds an even deeper significance. The house was originally donated to Hoek van Holland after a devastating 1953 flood disaster. As part of a government scheme, Hoek van Holland received two houses, and our client's cherished home became a symbol of resilience and community spirit.
